When Ayyan Ali started her career in 2010, she quickly flew towards stardom, winning the Best Female Emerging Model. She was nominated four times at the Lux Style Awards, and also, won the award for the Best female model in 2012. She worked with a number of the best Pakistani designers, and also became the brand ambassador for Calvin Klein, after being named the Beauty of the Year by the same brand. She was aspiring to be a singer having released a few songs.
However, 2015 brought forward another reason, for the model to be in the limelight. Leaving for UAE (United Arab Emirates) in a private flight, she was caught by the Islamabad airport authorities, and accused of money-laundering. She was carrying US $506,800 in her luggage – a collassal amount compared to the $10,000 allowed! She then appeared before a customs judge, and, was sent on a fourteen-day judicial remand. She spent 4 months in Adiala jail, after which she was released on bail, and flew to Dubai, her name having been removed from the ECL (Exit Control List).
The proceedings of the case have continued for the past two years, but Ayyan Ali has remained, as yet, absent. She has now been ordered to appear before the judge on February 15, otherwise “the process to declare Ayyan a proclaimed absconder” will begin. The presiding Judge Arshad Hussain Bhutta, has also cancelled the surety bonds and sent notices to the guarantors to appear in the next hearing. He has also ordered for Ayyan Ali to be arrested and brought to court on the given date.
