Released in Aug 2018, Indus Blues is a film directed by Jawad Sharif. It is a movie that reminds people about the fading art, mainly music, that once used to thrive here. It focuses on folk music mainly, on how it is fading, and how that is effecting those last few artists that represent these instruments.
Recently, at the Jaipur Film Festival, this Pakistani creation won two awards – one for Best Cinematography, and the other for Best Feature documentary.Earlier, Indus Blues also won awards at the Spotlight Documentary Awards festival, Top Indie Awards festival and the Guam International Film Festival. And so, since the feature documentary continued its awards’ winning spree, among the 1800 entries at the Jaipur Film Festival, it must have definitely been something satisfying for the team. Jawad Sharif, himself expressed, “Words can’t describe my emotions at the moment for winning two big awards at the Jaipur Film Festival.” He further appreciated his team, and also pointed out how this approval from across the borders showed how India and Pakistan, actually had inseperable cultural ties. “Love across borders,” as he aptly put.
